Food After Landing

It’s not uncommon for me to be ravenous after a flight. I’m usually a snack-hoarder, packing my bag with treats to keep my stomach satisfied in the sky. But coming back from Vegas? I totally dropped the ball. My stomach started growling before we even began our descent. This wasn’t just your average hunger—this was starvation. With a primary focus to get home and sleep. What will I do?

By the time we disembarked, I was beyond exhausted. All I wanted was to get home. But little did I know, the journey was far from over. Sure, we were technically on our way, but first, we’d have to face the many challenges between us and the comfort of my couch.

First up: a pit stop at the bathroom. Oddly, I didn’t need to go, but Chantel made a beeline for it, leaving me standing there, face-to-face with the harsh reality of my empty stomach.

As I stood there, I began to notice something. SEATAC was a food lover's dream. Now, before you get all judgy on me, yes, I knew they had food options. But airports are a whole different ballgame depending on whether you’re pre-flight or post-flight. Pre-flight, I’m all about scoping out the food and shopping. But post-flight? I’m just looking for the quickest route to baggage claim. I don’t need a second meal; I just need my bag, my exit, and the sweet sweet freedom of home. And I love airports!

But here I was… starving. And then, I smelled it. The golden arches. One gate over from the bathroom. The siren call of McDonald’s. Do I dare?

Chantel emerged from the bathroom just as I stuffed my second fistful of fries into my mouth, with a few rogue fries following back into the bag.

“Did you get a snack?” she asked, barely masking her amusement.

With the hangriness slowly fading away, I flashed her a grin and explained my genius discovery.
