Vancouver Restaurants Power Ranking
One of the top-tier travel perks? Unlocking new restaurants like you're in a foodie video game. So many dishes to devour, vibes to soak in, and cocktails calling your name. We ate our way through Vancouver and here’s how the lineup shook out from “eh” to “book me a table yesterday.”
6. Craffle – 5/10
We lined up thinking we were about to experience breakfast greatness. Spoiler alert: the line lied.
We ended up exiled to a lonely corner of the patio (shoutout to Henry, our furry plus-one), and while the staff was kind enough to seat us even when the patio was closed for the season, the food didn’t return the favor. I got a cappuccino (meh), and took a risk on egg tacos filled with bacon, eggs, cheese, avo made with pancake shells. Sounds fun, right? It wasn’t. Too sweet, not enough balance, and somehow... no actual Craffles on the menu? Make it make sense.
5. Delaney’s Cafe – 6/10
Bustling with locals and laptop warriors, this was a solid stop but nothing to text the group chat about. You order at the counter, snag a quick bite, and boom—you’re out. I grabbed a cortado and a breakfast burrito. Spinach in my burrito? A controversial move in my humble opinion, but it didn’t overpower. The eggs were surprisingly good, and with a little salsa action on the side, it passed the vibe check. Would return, but wouldn’t race back.
4. Mexicana – 6.5/10
Tucked away on Granville Island with a cozy, covered patio (again: Henry in tow), this spot had potential. We cracked open some glass-bottle Mexican Cokes and got our taco fix. Unfortunately, my Birria tacos were very soggy. Where’s the crunch?! Where’s the WOW?! A taco holder could’ve saved us. Chantel liked it more than I did, but with so many gems on Granville, it’s not a top-priority return.
3. Homer Street Cafe – 7/10
Cute AF. Michelin-recommended. Post-Canucks game, we weren’t super hungry, so we kept it light with drinks and appies. The beef tartare and salad were both strong contenders, and I left feeling like I needed to come back for a full-on dinner experience. Feels like it’s got “hidden gem” potential if you give it a second date.
2. Earl’s Kitchen & Bar (Hornby St) – 8/10
Judged the book by its cover and almost missed out…my bad. The outside looked kinda meh, but Chantel had a sixth sense about the patio, and she nailed it. Inside? Total glow-up. Espresso martinis? Fire. Truffle fries, tuna tacos, and prosciutto? Chef’s kiss. The whole place was vibey and way better than I expected. I’d 100% go back.
1. Chop – 12/10
Ladies and gents, we have a winner.
A waterfront steakhouse with ambiance for days—inside and out. The meal kicked off with a little amuse-bouche moment, followed by fresh warm bread, butter, cocktails (Van Hatten + dirty martini, elite combo), and mains that SLAPPED: filet mignon and a juicy burger. And the cherry on top? Chantel got a free birthday cake and a hand-signed card with a cute drawing from the staff. Are you kidding me?! 12/10 experience. We’re coming back. And bringing friends.
