Lost in the Madness
March Madness is here. Whether you're a die-hard basketball fan, an obsessive bracketologist, a casual gambler, or just someone who can’t escape the endless chatter from coworkers and partners, the madness has fully consumed our lives. And for some inexplicable reason, I thought, You know what would be fun? Running a travel bracket! Spoiler: it was not a good idea. So much work, so little payoff, and now I’m officially drowning in the madness.
I’ve never been shy about the fact that I’m trying to turn this little endeavor into something real, something with legs strong enough to pick me and Chantel up and carry us straight out of cubicle life and into our own successful business. The promised land, if you will. And in a moment of inspiration (or temporary insanity), I decided that a travel bracket would be the thing to help build momentum.
Here’s the problem: running a bracket means pumping out a ton of content (videos, posts, engagement) across four different social media platforms. It’s an uphill battle. And sure, travel brackets are a bit of a dated content trend, but I’ve always been a sucker for pop culture-style competitions, so why not throw travel into the mix? Well, I’ll tell you why not—because the timing could not have been worse.
We’re still lowkey unpacking from Tanzania and trying to get our house back in order. And despite my previous fluff piece about jet lag being an elite productivity booster, reality hit hard. Sure, I was an unstoppable force at 6 AM, but by 4 PM? A useless potato. So much for the grindset.
And March? March is already chaotic.
Licks Unlimited responsibilities are ramping up as we prep for the season.
Fantasy baseball drafts are in full swing. And let’s not forget Fantasy F1, where after just one week, I’m sitting comfortably in last place (shoutout to my lack of prep).
Brackets, brackets, brackets. Not just for travel. I’ve got like five different ones to fill out because, yes, I have to. It’s about maintaining friendships, staying in the mix, and keeping my networking game strong.
HOA drama is heating up with our annual meeting in April. Fun times.
Red Cross involvement—I genuinely want to level up my contributions, but my plate is fuller than a Thanksgiving feast.
And oh yeah, I finally started taking real steps toward publishing my book. Which is amazing! But also… why now? Could this not have waited another month? (Patience is, as always, a work in progress.)
So, yeah. The madness is real. I am fully submerged in it. But if nothing else, at least I’m staying busy… right?
