Below Deck is the Perfect Travel Show

I open the floor to debate what is the best show, movie, book, game, entertainment option when it comes to how you occupy yourself at 30,000 feet. I have plenty of different arguments I’ve made for this specific topic. But today, I’m here to argue why Below Deck, specifically Below Deck Mediterranean with Captain Sandy, is the perfect travel show

Choosing the right thing to watch on an airplane is critical—we’re talking life-or-death levels of importance (okay, maybe not literally, but I’m tryna paint the picture). You need something engaging enough to distract you from the fact that you're trapped in a flying metal tube, but not so intense that you're weeping next to a stranger or jumping at turbulence mid-thriller.

A slow-burn drama? Risky—unless you want to nod off and wake up totally lost.

A comedy? Perfect, but beware of those weird snort-laughs at 30,000 feet.

And for the love of god, don’t pick something with a known steamy scene (I’m talking to all you Challenger fans out there) unless you enjoy side-eyes from your seatmate.

The key? A solid mix of entertaining but easy to follow, because let’s be honest—you’ll be pausing every five minutes for snacks, drink carts, and that one guy climbing over you for the bathroom again.

Enter Below Deck Mediterranean. It takes everything you love about reality TV and cranks it up to travel yacht-level chaos.

The show follows the lives of a chaotic crew working on a superyacht in the Mediterranean, where they cater to the rich, famous, and occasionally, the downright outrageous. Think pristine blue waters, luxury vessels, and a rotating cast of crew members who are as stunning as they are dysfunctional. From the headstrong captain Sandy to the brooding deckhands and flirtatious stews, the crew is a mix of personalities that clash, connect, and occasionally combust.

Every episode showcases the drama of keeping a massive yacht afloat while dealing with demanding guests who expect five-star service, extravagant meals, and a flawless experience. the true essence of travel

But it’s not just about the guests—behind the scenes, the crew’s personal drama steals the show. Between love triangles, bitter rivalries, and high-octane meltdowns, Below Deck Mediterranean delivers the kind of unpredictable, jaw-dropping moments that will have you hooked from start to finish.

And let’s not forget the spectacular Mediterranean locations: one moment, you’re in the swanky ports of Greece, and the next, you're cruising past the stunning cliffs of Croatia. The show is an exotic backdrop to the kind of tension and entertainment you won’t find anywhere else.

As I was saying, Below Deck is the Perfect show to watching when at cruising altitude. Jaw-dropping scenery, scandalous drama, and the can’t-look-away reality TV of a boat with chaotic people.
